Loretta (Born in Oshawa) is a Hamilton based musician teaching at the Burlington Long & McQuade. She has been playing for just over 20 years, playing in all sorts of community pit bands, quartets, trio's, duo's and youth orchestra's throughout Southern Ontario. To name a few: Rosetta String Duo with her sister Rosemary, The Oshawa Youth Orchestra, The Orno Youth Orchestra, The Sinfonia Sacra, and the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
She graduated from Mohawk College for Cello and Trumpet in the 3 year Classical/Jazz program in Hamilton, Ontario. She played in many of the Mohawk ensembles including the Mohawk College Big Band as lead trumpet, a cello duo, and ensembles of the jazz, funk, and fusion persuasion. Loretta received a Specialist Certificate in the Music Business from Berklee College of Music, she studied Marketing, Publishing, The Future of the Music Business, and Inside the Record Industry. She is a member the Andre Bisson Band and the The Loretta Hale Big Band. She enjoys doing recording sessions, playing with other bands/ensembles in need of a string touch, as well as anything else that comes her way.
Loretta's influences are Jacqueline DuPre, Sam & Dave, Arturo Sandoval, Glenn Miller, Bix Beiderbecke, Bill Withers, Otis Redding, The Folksmen, Tijuana Brass, Stéphane Grappelli, Ben Folds Five, The Blues Brothers, The Commitments and much much more.
